The business that would eventually become Tokaibane was founded in 1934, and since then, we have focused exclusively on the production of springs. Just as there are many companies today that manufacture springs, there was also severe competition when our founder, Mitsuo Minamitani, first went into business.
Given the circumstances, our first priority has always been to help customers in need of a specific product by paying special attention to individual needs. There are other companies that can mass produce products very efficiently, but our goal has always been to take on business that other companies consider too inefficient. Therefore, we specialize in handling custom orders for almost any quantity of products from a wide variety of customers.
We provide high-quality products in response to individual orders, so naturally we maintain a vast archive of information on past orders that can be used to respond immediately to further requests for identical products. More than anything, however, we must also ensure that our spring manufacturing craftsmanship and know-how is passed down from one generation to the next.
As successors to our founder’s achievements, we too have struggled with the inefficiency of producing products individually, but our archive of accumulated product information is constantly being entered into our computer database, and we are now better prepared than ever to digitize and streamline the ultra-small-lot production of one to five units per order that has been our core competence since the very beginning. Having entered the age of the Internet, in 2003 we decided to implement our unique system via the World Wide Web, and since then we have had the pleasure of working with more than 1,000 new corporate customers over a five-year period. This has been a rewarding but also a humbling reminder that now more than ever we also bear a significant social responsibility.
Thanks to the patronage of our customers, we have also been recognized by organizations such as the Kansai Best 100 IT Forum for our efforts to develop our business through the use of information technology. This, too, is likely the result of having always kept our eye squarely on the original goal of serving customers by taking on jobs that no one else wants to do.
As we look towards the future, one thing that remains clear is our commitment to manufacturing in a manner that neither scrimps on time and effort, nor attempts to eliminate the craftsman. All of us at Tokaibane are committed to transmitting our expertise and know-how to the coming generation of craftsmen, to using IT effectively in our activities, to accepting orders for even a single unit from customers in Japan and around the world, and to ensuring that those customers are satisfied with their Tokaibane products.
We at Tokaibane Manufacturing Co., Ltd look forward to your continued patronage and support.
